Cove
for Bernhardt Design.
Cove introduces a new way of thinking about privacy within lounge seating.
Inspired by natural landscapes and the way forms gently rise, fold, and shelter, the sofa uses asymmetry to create two distinct experiences in one continuous gesture. One side lifts higher, wrapping the user in a more secluded, protective embrace, while the opposite side opens outward, inviting conversation and connection.
This subtle shift in height and curvature mimics natural terrains — cliffs, dunes, and rolling contours — where moments of openness coexist with pockets of refuge. Rather than dividing space, Solium softens it, offering privacy without isolation and comfort without heaviness.
Designed for both public and residential environments, Solium becomes a sculptural anchor that supports different moods and behaviors throughout the day.
A quiet nook when you need retreat.
A shared seat when you want openness.
A single form that adapts, intuitively and elegantly, to the way people live.
